In the last two weeks, I have been consulting for a couple of website owners that had run into access and updating problems. Both websites, it turned out, had major issues relating to ownership of their own content and intellectual property. I thought it would be helpful to other website owners to outline what went wrong, and to give you some steps for taking ownership and responsibility for your own website – instead of relying on others to do that for you, whether that is a web designer or business partner.
